Report Fire Damage to LA County 211
Report fire damage from the Creek Fire, Skirball Fire, and Rye Fire by calling 211 or online at https://211la.org/fire.
This information helps the County of Los Angeles determine the extent of the damage and the level of State and Federal assistance needed. If calling from outside the County dial (800) 339-6993. 211 is able to provide service in 240 languages, For deaf or hard of hearing residents, dial 800-660-4026 (or 7-1-1).

Returning Home and Recovering After the Fires
The City and County of Los Angeles have provided many resources to residents returning to their homes after these fires, please refer to the services and guides listed below.
  • Resources for Residents Returning Home After Fires: A listing of various resources and services offered by governments and non-profits that can help you recover from this fire.
  • Recovering from a House Fire: This checklist will help guide you through the early stages of returning home after a house fire.
  • Practice Safe Clean-up After a Fire: Take precautions during clean-up following a fire. Ash, soot, dust, and other airborne particles may have been deposited inside and outside of homes and businesses. While ash from wildfires is relatively non-toxic and similar to ash that may be found in a home fireplace, it may be irritating to the skin, nose and throat. Exposure to ash in air might trigger asthmatic attacks in people who already have asthma.

Visit a LA Fires Local Assistance Center
If you have been impacted by the Creek or Skirball Fires, the City of Los Angeles encourages you to visit the LA Fires Local Assistance Center. The Local Assistance Center is a one-stop shop where individuals, families and business owners impacted by the recent fires can obtain information on services and assistance from government agencies, utility companies and non-profits.

Urgent Need For Temporary Fosters - Help Lost Pets In The LA Wildfires!

Urgent need for foster volunteers for shelter dogs and cats to make room for lost/frightened pets who have escaped fires.

The risks that animals face during wildfires include exposure to smoke, anxiety, getting lost after fleeing a blaze, and of course the serious threat from the blazes themselves, including injuries that could potentially be fatal.

Here is how you can help:

PULL FROM THE SHELTERS
East Valley and West Valley have been experiencing higher intakes. If you have the space, these two shelters are in greatest need of rescue support. West LA has had a few more intakes than usual too but EV & WV are the priority.

BE A FOSTER (DOG OR CAT)
We encourage you to be temporary fosters for LAAS.

Foster instructions:
Fill out the application below and take it to the shelter during business hours. Be sure to bring a valid ID

NOTE: if you live in LA city and have existing dogs, they must be licensed. The foster dog going into the home must also not exceed city limit of three dogs.

DONATE

Donations can be dropped off at East Valley or West Valley shelters and they'll deliver to emergency sites OR drop off donations directly at the animal evacuation sites (Sunland Rec Center, Hansen Equestrian Center and Pierce College).

Most items are well supplied
but here is a list of their current needs:

Filtration masks
Goggles
Duct tape
Snacks for emergency staff who are working at the animal evacuation sites

For more information please call 888-452-7381 and after the language choice, press 4 and then press 4 again to choose a shelter.

Meet Bailey: Another Homes Fur All Rescue from Eagle Rock Bark!

12/1/2017

Comments

MEET BAILEY!
Bailey is our newest doggie rescue adoption
who found his furever home through
the Homes Fur All Program!
Picture
Here is his story:
Bailey was found as a stray weighing just over 3 lbs at 8 yrs old. He was dirty, with fly bitten ears, an upper respiratory infection, horrible teeth, and not neutered. He was taken to East Valley Animal Shelter where he waited and hoped that he would be claimed. When he became available not one person was there waiting for him.

When Bailey’s foster mom, Jennifer found out that this little tiny dog was sitting in the shelter sick she rushed to the shelter to get him. Bailey had an irregular heart beat so his neutered was deferred so he was able to go home right away. After seeing the vet it was found that he was so scared in the shelter his heart rate had slowed down.

After about a week in foster care it was back to normal and he could undergo surgery to get neutered and get the dental he so desperately needed. After some time it was also clear that Bailey had some urinary issues and after tests it was found that he had a serious bladder infection and early Kidney failure. Once he was treated and on the proper food he was no longer showing these signs and was quickly becoming much healthier. Bailey took some time to warm up but once he did he became a very loving and affectionate dog with both people and other dogs.

It was clear that Bailey would need a special home that would understand not only his tiny size but his medical needs. Adopt Me Rescue, knew that this could take some time and they were willing to wait.

Well, they got lucky! Three months to the day that they pulled Bailey he was placed in his furever home. Michelle O’Wing and her family came to meet Bailey at Eagle Rock Bark and we knew that they were the perfect fit!

Michelle and her family previously had multiple little Chihuahuas that they had taken in at older ages with multiple different medical conditions. They are used to prescription diets, daily medications, picky little dogs, and the needs of small chihuahuas (with housing accommodations already in place). Bailey, Michelle, and her daughter Tiffany connected right away. The house check and adoption were scheduled for the following weekend where Bailey got to meet Michelle’s husband Ron and their current dog Coco.

We could not have asked for a better home! Adopt Me Rescue has already received multiple pupdates including this one “Hi Jennifer! Wanted to let you know how good your little boy is doing. He’s very relaxed & curious. Still a little nervous about everything big & new, but overall I’m very impressed how he’s adjusting- you raised him well! He gets most excited to eat!!!”

THANK YOU ADOPT ME RESCUE!
We are so happy the Bailey is adjusting so well
and is fitting in with his new family.
