Misses Kisses was a rescue kitten found in Glassell Park and has been in the real estate business since late 2016. She has pursued her career as the Fitzburgh Realty Team's mascot and has been a top-notch member. She has been an amazing asset to our team and through her ambitious nature to secure the mascot position before she was even 6 months old we find to be quite impressive. She demonstrates outstanding leadership when it comes to finding food and searching for toys. She also shows great team player qualities when she's motivated to cuddle. Her life skills also include climbing potted plants and being an incredible alarm clock when waking up at 4 am is necessary. When she's not working, she can be found in the litter box burying "treasure". One of Homes Fur All's first missions as an organization was to respond to a call from a neighbor in Glassell Park. Our neighbor had mentioned seeing a litter of kittens alone and in need of help. We searched for these kittens for days and finally found them. Unfortunately, there was only one kitten left and we rushed her to get treatment! Fast forward months later, she is happy, healthy and thriving. We absolutely love her! We also couldn't resist adopting her and is now the Fitzburgh Realty's mascot. Her name is Misses Kisses and she is simply a joy to be around. Look how happy she is! With no care in the world, safe and protected... just how all pets should be. :) Remember when we first found her? She was sick, weak, malnourished and we didn't think she would make it through the night. She weighed only one pound when we found her and the vet told us that she might not make it. We were on a mission to get this little ball of fur to live! We are so incredibly grateful that she made it and is now part of the Fitzburgh Realty Family! Here she is with Alex, she loves spending time with him - even when he is doing homework. She is an awesome motivator. Alex loves her so much - they are great buddies! Welcome to the Fitzburgh Realty Family, Misses Kisses! We are a group of community lovers and animal lovers that happen to also be a group of real estate agents. We have created a not for profit organization called Homes Fur All with a mission to help better the lives of the people and pets of NELA!

Cinnamon Apple Bread Recipe - Deliciously sweetened with honey and fortified with protein and fiber!3/28/2017 Cinnamon Apple "Breadmaker" BreadBread is one of the oldest prepared foods dating back to the Neolithic era, the first breads were flat, made of a grain-paste made from ground cereal grains and water. Bread has been a staple in the diets of many over centuries. We love bread in our household and have experimented with lots of different varieties. I particularly love sweet breads and this apple bread is no different! This apple cinnamon bread makes a 2 lb loaf, contains zero refined sugar and is a high source of protein and fiber. I typically swap out refined sugar with natural sugars that occur in fruit and organic raw honey. This bread is awesome right out of the oven and you can toast it up and butter it for breakfast. The sweetness for this bread comes from 2 apples, peeled and cored and raw organic honey. Both are healthy alternatives to refined sugar. If you prefer organic maple syrup, go ahead and substitute it! Apples pair perfectly with cinnamon so there are 2 heaping tablespoons of cinnamon in there as well. I love adding extra protein, omega 3s, omega 6s and other micronutrients by adding rolled oats, chia seeds and ground flax seed (flax seed must be ground for your body to optimally digest and get the benefits from it) into everything from breads to shakes to my power brownies. It's a great way to sneak protein and fiber in without changing the flavor. Life can get super hectic and I don't have the time to wait for bread to react to the yeast and rise. So I purchased a breadmaker and it has become one of my favorite kitchen appliances! I just love warm, freshly baked bread and with this breadmaker, I can bake breads with ease. It really is as simple as placing the ingredients in and pressing a button. I love fool proof baking! Cinnamon Apple Bread1 1/4 cups Milk - room temperature 2 1/2 tablespoons Butter - soft and cut into 4 smaller pieces 3 tablespoons Raw Organic Honey 1 1/4 teaspoons Salt 2 tablespoon Flax Seeds - ground 1 tablespoon Chia Seed 1 cup Rolled Oats 2 large Apples - room temperature 2 cups All Purpose Flour 2 tablespoons Cinnamon 2 teaspoons Yeast Add each ingredient into the breadmaker in the order listed above. Select 2 lb loaf baking size and dark crust. This bread needs a little extra baking time because of all the apples. The apples tend to rise to the top so don't be surprised if they do! But don't they look simply beautiful at the top and not mixed into the bread? The apples come out soft, warm, a little sweet and cinnamon-y. This bread is SO easy, SO healthy and SO good for you! Who could resist this? Not the Easter bunny! There he is again photobombing yet another one of my food photos! Thanks for reading, I hope you try this recipe and love it like I do! Please feel free to reach out to me with your healthy food alternative recipes. I LOVE new food ideas and how to swap out unhealthy ingredients with their healthier counterparts! - Cathie We are a group of community lovers and animal lovers that happen to also be a group of real estate agents. Don't have a dog to bring?
Dog Etiquette
Train your dog to come when he is called with a number of different tactics. Use a word, phrase or sound that he's not likely to hear at the park and reward him with extra-special treats during training. Your dog needs to know that you're in control and the alpha animal, this is the key to dog obedience when other canines are around.
2. Pause before you enter
A well-designed park will have an entrance with two gates. Enter the first gate with your dog on a leash, then pause. If there areseveral dogs swarming the gates, this isn't the time to barge in. A pause will allow other dogs the time to get used to yours which will keep all dogs involved a little calmer than if you were to barge in through the gates.
3. Pay attention.
Once inside the park, it's your job to keep an eye out for the dogs. Always know where your dog is and what he’s doing. If you see trouble brewing, call him back right away. Know when your dog has pooped so you can scoop, too. Many parks provide plastic bags, but you should always bring your own.
4. Read the signals.
Be aware of your dogs body language and signals. Your dog should demonstrate good behavior if you plan to take him to the park. Make sure you have the ability to read canine behavior. Dogs at play have relaxed ears, wagging tails, and may "play bow" with their front end down to the ground. Upset hounds hold their tails at half-mast or between their legs. Their ears are pinned back, and their pupils shrink so you can see the whites of their eyes. A dog that’s ready to rumble will be tense, hold his head high, and lean forward. His ears will point up or forward, too. While growls are common in play, snarling with lips curled back isn’t. If you see these danger signs, redirect the dog with treats or a toy or clap or make a loud noise.
5. Know what to do if a fight breaks out
Despite your best efforts, it can happen. Make sure you're ready.
- Give it a moment. Most doggie duels end as quickly as they started.
- If they go at it for more than a few seconds - Don't step in with your hands or body. Try using a stick to separate them. A hose or water pistol are good tools as well.
- If they’re still fighting after about 3 seconds, you and the other owner should approach the dogs from the rear. Gently grab their back legs at the top of the leg and lift them up like a wheelbarrow then start moving back. Be sure to not reach for their collars as they may bite.
6. Don't take puppies to the park
They can be hard to control and the park isn't the place to train a puppy. Also, those who haven’t had all their shots can be exposed to diseases. Wait until your pup is 6 months old before you go.
7. Know when to go
Basic good manners should help you avoid most problems. A little extra effort on your part will help. But don't go to the dog park if your furry pal:
- Isn’t vaccinated or doesn't have flea and tick protection
- Isn't spayed or neutered

Another thing that makes Habitat truly amazing is that they are huge community lovers and pet lovers as well. The shop is kid and dog friendly so feel free to bring the entire family.
Thanks Habitat for being so awesome... Can't wait for the next coffee, egg salad sandwich and laptop time :)
We recently heard that she also runs a backpack drive that collects backpacks (new or used) for children in need. We jumped at the chance to make a donation and were so happy to have been able to meet Alex, who received it. Alex smiled ear to ear and was so appreciative of a backpack to use to carry his school books.
If anyone has a backpack to donate, please feel free to contact us OR drop it off to Maggie at the Glassell Park Community Garden - I'm sure she would love a couple extra hands to help out!
